Where customer’s travel plans have been impacted due to the coronavirus the following policy will be applied:
• Cancellations may be made up to 1 hour before the reserved start date/ time without any penalty or charges.
• If a reservation is not cancelled at least 1 hour in advance of the reserved start date/ time it will be treated as a no-show and a no-show fee maybe applied, subject to any agreed exceptions. Where the no-show is a direct result of the coronavirus a full refund will be provided.
Refunds must be equal to the full price paid by the renter, EHI reserves the right to audit these transactions for compliance.
An initial, non-refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard.
The balance is payable directly to the supplier on arrival (along with any applicable vehicle security bond).
In the event of cancellation the initial deposit paid remains non-refundable.
DRIVING LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
All valid types in roman alphabet must be in renter's name and first name (Greek driving licenses in EU format Ok) Originals only are accepted.
International driving license only valid if presented with domestic driving license.
Must have been held for at least one full year, and still valid.
Original Chinese driving license is accepted but only with a translation by the Chinese government or by a notary in France. The customer must provide either an identity card or a passport, a landline telephone number at home, and 2 phone numbers 1 of which landline this can be a mobile number. Due to an increased theft risk, a proof of home address will be required from all domestic renters (French residents only) at time of rental. (mobile phone invoice is a valid proof). Document must be no more than 30 days old.
Please note that we reserve the right to request additional ID or conduct further identification checks if needed which may include an identity check with an external organisation.
Upon the United Kingdom leaving the European Union (EU) the requirements for UK Driving license holders driving in EU member states may change. Please check requirements before travelling. Government advice may be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/prepare-to-drive-in-the-eu-after-brexit
All drivers must present a full valid driving license. If the driving license is written in a language and characters different to those of the country of rental, an International Driving Permit is also required. Renters are advised to check whether local authorities require foreign drivers to present an International Driving Permit to avoid the risk of potential fines. Renters with licenses from countries who are not part of the International Driving Permit Agreement should carry a certified translation.
All renters must provide a valid identity card or passport.
All drivers must have held their full license for a minimum of 1 year.
All local renters must provide proof of home address in France with a utility or phone bill. Customers picking up at Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport must provide a local landline telephone number and a valid boarding pass or mainline train ticket showing arrival at Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport within 24 hours of the rental start date.
COVERAGES (amounts include VAT)
PLEASE NOT THAT ONE SAME DRIVER IS ONLY ALLOWED TO DRIVE ONE RENTED VEHICLE AT THE SAME TIME
DURING THE TIME OF RENTAL, VEHICLES ARE COVERED UNDER A THIRD PARTY LIABILITY, FIRE AND THEFT INSURANCE, AND DAMAGES TO THE RENTED VEHICLE WITH OR WITHOUT AN IDENTIFIED THIRD PARTY.

COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER (CDW)
Damage Waiver (DW) reduces the liability of the renter in the event of damage to or theft of the vehicle. If DW is not included in the reservation, the renter has full liability for the vehicle. DW is available for purchase at the rental counter and reduces the applicable excess to zero.
If purchased or included in the reservation, the excess amount is 1500€ for all vehicles with the exception of Passenger Vans, Compact Elite, Premium and Luxury vehicles which have an excess of 2500€. Economy and Compact Cargo Vans have an excess of 1500€ and all larger Cargo Vans have a 2500€ excess.
Before purchasing DW it is advised to determine, if a personal coverage is adequate to cover damage, theft, loss of revenue, administration fees, diminishment of value, and any towing, storage or impound fees. If DW is declined, the renter will be required to pay these charges and seek compensation through their carrier of personal coverage. DW is not insurance.
EXCESS PROTECTION (EP)
Excess Protection (EP) is an optional coverage available only if Damage Waiver (DW) is included in the rate. EP reduces the applicable Damage Waiver excess amount to zero for all vehicles. If EP is not included in the reservation, it is available for purchase. Before purchasing EP it is advised to determine, if a personal coverage is adequate to cover damage, theft, loss of revenue, administration fees, diminishment of value, and any towing, storage or impound fees. If EP is declined, the renter will be required to pay these charges up to the Damage Waiver excess amount and seek compensation through their carrier of personal coverage. EP is not insurance.
Vehicles can be driven in Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. No additional charges apply.
Vehicles can also be driven in Corsica, Sardinia and the Balearic Islands but must be returned to France mainland.
Customers must always inform the rental branch of their intention to leave the country with the vehicle and require authorisation.

1 UNDER 25 renters are charged an extra fee of 32.10 EUR per day, with a maximum of 321 EUR (VAT incl.) per rental. No maximum age applies.

The DW option reduces the damage or theft excess. The excess is payable on each different damage.
The EP option strongly reduces the excess in case of damage o theft. EP can only be subscribed if DW is subscribed or included.
3 PW option is available if DW is declined. PW waives the responsibility of the renter on the first 1 000 € per damage or in case of theft.
"4 Mileage is limited on domestic products : 250 km per day from 1 to 13 days, 150 km from 14 to 27 days, 100 km per day from 28 to 30 days
Renter must fill in an accident report in all cases of damage or theft within 24 hours. Full deductible applies if not.
In case of theft, renter must file a complaint with the police authorities and return the receipt, car keys and car papers to the location.
Any adjustment of the excess to real damage costs take into account the repair, and the loss of use and the administrative costs.
PBA Tire / Glass / Roadside Assistance
This extra coverage waives the responsibility of the renter in the following cases:
(i) replacement or repair costs for tyres (wheels & rims excluded) except if part of a larger damage.
(ii) repair or replacement of glasses (glass breakage) except if part of a larger damage.
This extra also covers assistance to the rented vehicle and passengers in case of accident.

ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PROTECTION
Roadside Assistance Protection (RAP) is an optional 24-hour emergency service including provision of a replacement vehicle in case of lost vehicle key, shipping of the key, on-site assistance in case of tire breakdowns, towing service, forced unlocking of the vehicle if the keys are locked inside, jump-start assistance, and refuelling service up to 5 litres. The renter pays a flat-rate fee that covers all roadside assistance services.
Before purchasing RAP, it is advised to determine if a personal coverage is adequate to cover these charges. If RAP is declined, the renter will be required to pay any applicable charges and seek compensation from the carrier of personal coverage. RAP is not insurance.
DURATION OF RENTAL
30 DAYS MAXIMUM PER RENTAL
One rental day is a complete or partial period of 24 consecutive hours from the start of the rental period. On return, a grace period of 29 minutes will be applied if the 24-hour period is exceeded before an extra day applies. Beyond this grace period, an additional day at the local rate will be charged.

The extension must be authorized by the rental location at least 48 hours before the initial rental end date.
Out of hours are on request from most locations.
OUT OF HOURS
In case of non return within the opening times, the customer is responsible for the car until the location opens.
Cost usually is 38.13€ VAT incl. for the 1st hour, and 76.26€ beyond.
BREAKDOWN OR ACCIDENT
A roadside assistance is available in all countries covered by insurance in case of breakdwon (free of charge) or accident (see PBA).
Even if the PBA option is subscribed, renters may have to pay locally for some services(taxi, repairs, towing,…) The invoices for such services should be kept and presented on car return for refund.
In case of breakdow or accident, the roadside assistance may be reached by calling :
- from a fixed land line within France : the rental start location or 0800 13 12 11 (24h/24 7j/7)
- from a mobile or from abroad : + 126.96.36.199.73.61 (24h/24 7j/7)
note : at peak times, a wait of 5 minutes or more is possible.
TAX & EXTRAS
VAT applies to all our services.
An extra charge is due for any rental starting from an airport or rail or premium location (41.40 € per rental as of June 1st, 2018).
A road fee of 3.54 € per day of rental with a maximum charge of 28.32 € per rental is due.
Road tolls or other road taxes, fines and pond or parking coses are not refunded.
Administrative handling of traffic offenses is charged 25,- € per violation & 35,- € in case of parking offenses.
All major debit and credit cards (issued by either Visa, Mastercard or American Express) are accepted.
Prepaid cards, Diners Club and Discover Card are not accepted.
All cards presented must be in the renter’s name. A security deposit plus the estimated cost of the rental will be taken at the time of rental.
For the car categories Mini to Standard and Passenger Vans a deposit of 250€ is required. For Convertibles, Premium and Luxury vehicles the deposit is 1000€. Cargo Vans require a deposit of 500€. Cash and ‘cheques vacances’ are accepted as forms of payment but only at the end of the rental. The initial charges must be taken on a valid debit or credit card.
Visa Electron, Mastercard Maestro, Switch, Mozaic, V-Pay, prepaid or E-cards OR CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED
A security DEBIT SALES is processed with the credit/debit card and varies according to the car group rented (see table above).
The rental charges as per the signed rental agreement are debited on rental start on top of the security debit.
"Chèques vacances" (ANCV) are accepted as means of payment.
Cash payment is not accepted on rental start for security reasons.
In France and Continental Europe, cars are driven on the right side of the road.
Safetybelts are mandatory for all passengers.
A SAFETY KIT MADE OF ONE SAFETY JACKET AND ONE SAFETY TRIANGLE IS MANDATORY, KEPT AT HAND INSIDE THE VEHICLE
THIS KIT IS PUT IN THE CAR FREE OF CHARGE-A PENALTY FEE OF 20.07 EUR IS CHARGED TO THE RENTER IN CASE OF LOSS OR DAMAGE
BABY/CHILD SEAT OR BOOSTER ARE MANDATORY UNTIL 10.
Renters must return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at the time of pick up. If the vehicle is not returned with the same level of fuel the renter will be charged a refuelling service charge based upon the fuel used. An additional fee of 15€ will apply.
The renter may choose to prepay for the refuelling service charge at the time of vehicle collection. Please contact the local branch for details.
Additional drivers must meet all renter requirements. They must appear at the rental counter with the primary renter and sign the rental agreement. Additional drivers can only be added to the contract at the pick-up branch. Additional charges will apply.

The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable.
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
